BOXED WARNING — CYP2C19 POOR METABOLIZERS: Clopidogrel effectiveness is reduced in patients who are CYP2C19 poor metabolizers. These patients have higher cardiovascular event rates when treated with clopidogrel than patients with normal CYP2C19 function. Tests are available to identify a patient's CYP2C19 genotype; consider alternative antiplatelet therapy in CYP2C19 poor metabolizers.
